Driveshaft interchange 120-130 1966

I'm just full of questions these days...

I might pick up an automatic '66 122 to tool around in for a while while I sort out other problems. It has a need for u-joints. I have a need to drive it 120 freeway miles. I wonder if I can use my currently non-op '66 122's (M-40) driveshaft on the automatic for the trip until I replace the joints.

For some reason I thought the auto's had a shorter shaft, but the manuals say that aside from there being three types there are no other differences. Knowing engineers, I suppose this is feasible. What say you, gentlemen?
