My 1990 244 ,recently acquired has a 6 panel light cluster in the back.On the
driver's side the stop light does not work likely because the plastic housing is cracked, the printed circuit is damaged and there is water infiltration. I was considering rerouting the power to the fog light which is higher on the cluster. I vaguely remember a post on this topic years ago .
The likely way to do so is to cut the wire to the fog light and cap it and get th stop light wire to be diverted and connected to the fog light dtub wireand get the juice to the bulb. The connector in the cluster has connecting pins so small that I think I could not do the switcheroo at that location and need to work by butchering and splicing the wires .
By the way, which wires carries the juice meant for the stop lights? I would guess the red one, and which wire is normally connected to the fog light on the driver's side? I am used to working with station-wagons where the wiring is more obvious than the printed circuits found on later 4 door models
