4 way flahers work--directionals do not 200 1990

Today my directionals decided not to function. My 4 way emergency flashers all work ok and the relay clicks strong. But when I try to use either L or R directional neither works. I took apart the switch on the colunm and cleaned and lubed it a bit. Is there a ground wire that I have missed or what?? I even put a tiny blob of sodder on the locations in the switch where the contact for the directionals is made for L and R. Any ideas????????
