I have been working a 1990 245 Driver's side seat rebuild (collecting information and "stuff"). The replacement parts are from a spare I had laying around. Not new & perfect, but was the passenger's side from another car.
I have been thinking about adding some kind of "cushioning" between the springs and the foam. I found some carpet padding (for cars). What is the best way to utilize the padding (should I do a square that covers the entire seat bottom or just strips along the sides (where the springs hit the foam? Should I glue two pieces together (I bought the adhesive to do it) so there is not possible way the springs will poke through? Do I have worry about any kind of "fire hazard" if it ever gets cold enough for my seat heaters to start working again (if I use a large square)?
What is the best way to tackle the PITA spring re-attachment? Any more advice before I tear into this project on Friday after work?
Any help would be as always, greatly appreciated.
