engine oil light came on after fill up 200

I filled up my 89 245 today at a gas pump that had a faulty cut off valve and
inadvertently overfilled my tank. when i started my car afterwards the engine oil light flickered on and off for about 10 miles and then stopped. the car seemed to run fine though. does anyone know what would cause this ? is there any possible engine damage that may have occured?
