Air Box Thermostat & Throttle Body 200 1989

Yesterday I took out the airbox so I could check out the thermostat. The one that I removed had the stainless steel 'plunger' almost fully depressed into the thermostat body. The ambient temperature was in the 70s or 80s and the car was cold. Does the depressed plunger on the thermostat indicate that it has failed?

Also, anyone know where I might find a replacement flapper for the air box? The foam on mine is old and deteriorating. I'm worried that with with a few openings and closings it'll disappear completely.

And as for the throttle body; is there any reason that there'd be motor oil in the plastic hose that connects the AMM to the throttle body? There was a small amount of oil in there and the throttle body had some gunk in there too.
