How is speedo cable connected to instrument cluster? 200 1985

I installed my tac with no problems last night but when I began to remove the instrument cluster I noticed the speedo cable slid off fairly easily. I reattached it by pressing it back on to the female connector but it doesn't seem to be a very secure fit to me. Am I missing anything?
