I installed a new cap and rotor last year and experienced some rough running recently in my 93 245. I cleaned the throttle body and ICM,but to no avail. Taking off the distrubitor cap I found a line of crud on the copper contacts that the rotor shoots the current into. I scraped it off with a small screwdriver and cleaned up with 360 grit sandpaper. I also sandpapered the end of the rotor. Runs great now.
How long should I expect this to last? Another year?
Is this OK to do???
We have the "Italian tune up" touted by Click & Clack on NPR, the "South Philly Slider" and the "Texas Rolling Stop"...I figure the "Mexican tuneup" is not far off.
Cheers,
