Mechanic can't diagnose or fix it 200 1992

I have a problem with my 92 240 wagon. It will start initially, but soon after will stall and won't restart until a 1/2 hour or so later. For instance, I start the engine, back out of my driveway, shift to drive and it stalls.

Today, my son started out and drove a couple of blocks and it stalled. It did restart right away but he came home anyway.

The local Volvo "experts" replaced a speed sensor and fuel pump relay yesterday after initially thinking it was a stuck throttle cable. I of course was p...ed when he said they replaced the relay just in case that was the problem. He also claimed there was no way to test it. Now I have put $200 into it and they want me to bring it back. Yikes!!!
