30 years of advancement.... 120-130

For the past several years my '66 Amazon has been my only means of transport. Having recently bought a bunch of acres with an old run-down farmhouse in need of major renovation, my significant other and I decided it wasn't so nice for 'the Bird' to have to do lumber yard runs, etc. so we bought a little pickup. Simple 2WD '95 Toyota- sufficient for our needs, good reputation, etc. Man, it's really renewed my appreciation of our 122! The Volvo is 30 years older, has a smaller engine (2.0 vs 2.2), has got to weigh more, yet has significantly more power and gets better mileage (and the seats are more comfortable, not to mention the Toyota just feels kinda 'cheap')! The pickup truck does OK, but is pretty wimpy on big hills. All those hoses and wires and EFI this-that-and-the-other-things- what good are they? OK, well I guess the Toyota probably spews less pollution than the amazon, so I'll give it a point there. And maybe it handles a little bit 'easier' than the Amazon.... but that's all that 30 years of advancement could come up with? I sure wish Volvo had made a pickup version of the Amazon!
