Rough idle when in gear and stopped '88 740 700 1988

Automatic 740: it shakes and idles roughly when at a stop and in drive. Stops shaking when I put it in nuetral. I have really only felt this on good 'ol USA cars before, and possibly every older US make I have driven, but never before on one of my Volvo's!

Had trouble getting accurate reading on trans dip-stick could low trans fluid be causing this?
