ZF22 in a 740 GLE 700 1989

I discover from the VIN on my recently acquired 740 that it has a ZF22 transmission. It seems to run OK, the car only has 85000 on the odo.

This is all new to me, so a quick google and a search here seemed to almost exclusively produce details of how to swap it for an AW variant. Is this because it's not so good, or just because it's hard to find another if it fails?

There is a slight 'rubbing' sound on acceleration when it's cold, which disappears after a mile or two as the engine warms up.

It seems fine, the car was not expensive, so I'm not unduly concerned, just interested.
