Rear axle seals leaking 140-160

Hi all,
I had a small leak coming from the rear axle seals, so I decided to have the rear axle bearings and seals replaced with NOS ones. Now they leak worse than before.(should've left well enough alone!)
It seems like a pretty straight forward job, so my question is "Were the seals I had put in defective (Old dried out?)" They seemed ok. Could there be another culprit?
