Speedometer Spike and Service Light 900 1991

I kinda recently baught this car. When i first got it, the speedometer spiked for a couple of days. Then i never saw it again until today. A couple days ago my service light went on, then today my speedometer started to spike. Even at a stop light or in park it will spike. Does anybody know what might be causing this to happen?
