That was fast: something squealing BW35? 140-160 1974

Developed a new horrific noise to the '74, before I start taking things apart and going around with a pipe to isolate it, I thought I'd cull from the collective brain trust.

As soon as the cars starts and idles, a squeal from the rear of the engine, seemingly stronger on the driver's side, begins. It is affected by engine RPM, but can quiet down and even momentarily abate while driving. Does not seem to associate itself with any gear, the tranny has it's fluid looking and smelling nice and it operates normally; as does virtually everything else that isn't electronic.

Began yesterday in heavy rain, and in the 40 miles hence has become extremely aggravated. Initial reaction was exhaust, but it doesn't seem to be the case after shaking and pulling at what I can reach. Belts aren't slipping. Sound is definitely no where near the power steering pump. Could the starter make a squeal? Water pump doesn't seem to be weeping.

Hear squeals all the time on other vehicles, but never on one of mine. So again, I'm clueless.

Thanks, sorry to be vauge, but you never know what you guys have been through.
