89 240 - 'check engine', loss of power, eats ECUs 200 1989

About two weeks ago, I tuned up my 240. The car ran good, but would die at idle. I decided to put in new plugs, and "urika", I found that on one of the Volvo plugs the end-cap on the plug had broken off (reason it was difficult to start and would not idle). However, before starting it, I decided to clean the AMM. I removed it, sprayed it with starter fluid, let it dry, then replaced it.

Well, it started and idled like a new car. I took it for a test drive, and I noticed a slight loss of power, but it was running smoothly.

The next day, it started acting up. Started great, but when I turned it off then re-started it, it hesitated and acted like it was not going to make it to highway speed. Finally, after about a minute, it began to run evenly.

Then it happened, the "Check Engine" light cam on. It did not want to run without me constantly pumping the gas peddle. So, I ordered another ECU unit. When I installed it, it appeared to solve the problem. However, the very next day, the "Check Engine" light came back on. I am now back in the same situtation as before.

Any suggestions???
