In Take Fuel Pump - LH 2.2 compatiblity with Regina 700 1992

I am experiencing in Tank Fuel Pump/Sender woes with my 1992 B230F 740 Wagon with the Regina system.

I have pulled both in tank pump assemblies from the '86 B230FT LH2.2 740 Wagon and the 1992 B230F Regina wagon.

The pump/sender assemblies look functionally identical. The actual pumps and the suction and return tubes and hoses are slightly different - the 2 wire power systems on both look to be the same - the way they are connected to the actual pumps are slightly different. One is soldered (the 92) and the 1986 is wired with brass threaded connectors and nuts. So, there is either 12V to the pump motors or there is not, no big piece of rocket science here.

The assemblies appear to be interchangeable, mechanically speaking. As I have said, the pump motors are slightly different. Functionally and electrically, they appear to be identical. The fuel level senders appear to be exactly the same.

What I need to know is IF the 1986 pump develops the same pressure and delivers the same volume as the 1992 pump does. If this is true, then they can be swapped without a hassle. If you don't know the answer - Where can I find out ? Please ? I am really pissed off about this.

I made the mistake of letting some local JACKASSES at a "reputable" garage work on my 1992 to replace an apparent failed in tank pump. I brought the car home after they worked on it, parked it Friday night, went to go to work this morning and guess what ? The car wouldn't start. Same problem as when I brought it into them, the car was starving for fuel and there was no pressure at the rail - this was AFTER they had replaced the pump motor.

So, I pulled the pump motor out and found that the NIMROD had forced the small coupler between the pump output and the supply line going through the pump housing into place and gouged the orange fuel grade rubber grommet to the point where the LOOSE chunk got stuck right into the line going through the pump body - so guess what ? No fuel pressure to the rack - NO Start, ME, I am really wicked PISSED OFF not only at them but, at myself for letting Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb Automotive work on MY Volvo. On top of that, the fuel gauge wasn't working either, I already fixed that problem, they assembled the parts incorrectly, so, I had to fix that too.

If anyone knows the answer to the Pump Volume and pressure answerbewtweeen the 86 & the 92 , I would very grateful.
