my wife's volvo drives good down the road, and then all of a sudden the tach will be jumping from 2000 to 3000 and then down to 1000 r.p.m. and then back to 2000r.p.m., car will want to die and is hard to start for 4 seconds, it will then start and act normal. i opened up the hood to check out the situation and then the cars idle will jump up by itself and then go back down and then act normal. this is crazy and i've never seen this before. i thought it might have been fuel line freezup but it isn't. i use 88 octane in the car and treat it very well since wife drives it. does anyone want to help me figure this out??? this is the only car my wife can drive since my volvo is stickshift and her's is automatic, and she works 50 miles from home.
