Jumping RPMs - Check this stuff out 700 1986

Check the cleanliness of the Throttle Body throat, if it is dirty, clean it.

Pull out the Idle Air Control Valve and douche it out really good, make sure it moves freely, consult and READ the FAQs.

Check the F1 Relay - if you have a spare (40.00 new), replace it with the spare. F1 Is the Fuel Control relay and if you have a cracked solder joint inside the relay, it can cause weird things to happen. See the FAQs for specifics.

Is this a Turbo or not ?

Is it a California emissions vehicle ?

Check the connection on the distributor where the electrical connector is - the Hall Sensor - look inside the Dist Cap if you can.

I can only assume you have a Bosch Fuel Injection (not Regina) system.

If the car is surging really bad, suspect a vacuum leak, if the RPMS rise and don't fall back down (decay normally) then look into the IAC Valve and clean the piss out of it.

These are my suggestions. Good Luck ! Post back - we are interested and we want to help you out.
