Greetings to all,
My beloved volvo 240(had it since new - 196,500 now) has begun to make an untoward noise. When the right front goes over certain types of road bumps there is a sort of knock ("Thock" sounding) seemingly coming from the right front...probably from the wheel area.
Also: I notice if I suddenly tap a little hard on the brake pedal that I hear the same noise reproduced once for each tap.
I had a very vague memory of a past problem that might be similar...very vague. I find in my records that in August, 2000 a worn out front lower control arm bushing was replaced (which side I don't know).
We've taken the wheel off but inspection revealed no clues
I am most grateful to any input regarding diagnosis. Thank you.
P.S. The car's suspension system is old and under question, and now I'm beginning to wonder if it's actually even an old sound...maybe it's just louder -
