At this time of the winter my 240s get pinhole leaks on the return fuel line from road salt and maybe from driving through snow banks. I resorted with success for my first two to splicing in the metal line a short rubber hose meant for fuel with two clamps at each end.
My most recent 240 is now afflicted and I am preparing for the surgery. I just cant recall the proper diameter of the rubber hose which should be the same as the outer diameter of the original return line. Can some one refresh my memory"it will save me on ecrawl under the car to do the measuring.
The last time I did it in order to avoid bending too much the rigid lines and weakening them, I have done a 360 degree loop which requires a longer length of hose but did not seem to do any worst than when I put a short straight length of hose in the gap. I took care to tuck-in the loop so that it did not get caught as the car is moving over the next windrow of frozen snow.
