Engine stopped while driving 200 1983

I was driving along and suddenly I lost all engine power and coasted to a halt. I was unable to restart the car. I checked the fuses and fiddled with battery cables and she restarted drove about a mile and then the same thing complete loss off engine power. any ideas?
