How much Overfilling of manual tranny can be done 200

I had filled the M47 II manual tranny of my 1990 240 DL SW with Red line MTL few months back but I still feel the stiff first gear expecially since it is cold now . I was able to fill little less (100-150 ml) than two 1 quart bottles in which the oil comes .
I had tried to overfill at that time by raising the driver side with a jack but car was on a sloping ground and front was lower than the rear and may be that was the reason that I was not able to overfill it.

My question is how much overfilling you guys have been able to do ? (2 quart ,2.25 quart or 2.5 quart etc).The manual I think says 1.7. . I want to put more oil in the hope that the stiffness goes away and for the sake of longivity also.
