Hi there. My ‘77 264 B27F (PVR. Make your snide remarks now..) isn’t running properly after being stored for about 6 years. When I manage to get the engine running, it runs extremely rough and produces a ton of white/blue smoke. Also, and here’s the environmental disaster, gasoline dripped out of the exhaust pipe. (I’m thinking I’ll need to replace the catalytic converter when all is said and done...) Bad sign. Looks like it’s running a tad rich. Anyone seen such a thing?
Here’s what I know:
The gasoline is fresh.
I’m getting good compression. (130PSI per cylinder)
I’m getting a spark to each plug.
The plug wires are on in the correct order.
Each plug is covered in carbon.
I’m getting fuel to each injector, but perhaps too much.
I suspect that there may be gas in the crankcase, but I can’t be sure until I drain it...
My thought is this: perhaps the fuel pressure regulator is defective and gas is just pouring into each cylinder.
Once I get the 264 manual, I’ll check out how to rest the fuel delivery components for defects. Until then, if you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. The fuel distribution block is new technology to me and I wonder how it could break in such a way to result in this behavior. Or is is possible that an injector or two are stuck open? (The passive injectors on this design are new to me. Not sure if they’re spring loaded or what...)
Thanks for the help!
