CD Changer - replacing OEM unit 900 1992

The OEM 6CD changer in the trunk of my '92 940 works intermittently so I'm considering changing it. The OEM radio (CR-814) works fine so I would like to keep it. I understand an Alpine CD changer will work but requires a different cable and adapter. I've seen the VOLALP adapter that's designed for this purpose, but it's designed to connect directly to the OEM radio instead of connecting to the end of the OEM cable in the trunk. I would prefer to keep the OEM cable between the radio and the trunk, and either use a different adapter between the OEM cable and the Alpine unit, or else remove the OEM plug and install an Alpine plug on the end of the OEM cable.

Does anyone know if such an adapter exists and where I can find it, or does anyone know the pinout of the OEM cable and the Alpine plug so I could install an Alpine plug on the end of the OEM cable? Also, if a particular Alpine CD changer is recommended I would appreciate knowing that. Thanks.
