1992 960 Backfire 900

My 1992 960 has 250,000 miles . The engine has 125,000. Periodically it backfires blowing the intake manifold off. It happens about onec every 5 or 5 months.
I have checked the fuel pressure after the engine is shut off. It remaind up indicating the injectors are O.K. Other than this the engine runs great.
Any ideas how I can cure this problem?
