How long does a 940 Turbo Fuel Pump last? Fuel Filter problems anyone? 900 1991

How long does a 940 Turbo Fuel Pump last? Mine was at 201 K and i couldnt get the car to start. I thought I had a dead fuel pump and I was reasonably sure when I stuck 12V in it and felt nothing. I alst tried to srat the car with my hand on the pump and felt no hum. I replaced the pump with a boneyard spare and the fuel filter at the same time while I had the system open. The car came to life.
However when I tested the dead fuel pump it actaully ran well. Now I think it was a clogged fuel filter! I've had at least 3 or 4 clogged fuel filters on this car in the last 4 or 5 years. Does anyone else experience Fuel Filter problems ?

I am worried becasue I am driving Cross Country next month. I have a second spare fuel pump, but should I buy a new one?
