Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but I couldn't find it in a search. I have a 1992 745 turbo with 240k miles, and I'm starting to wonder if I should sell it before I come up on some major "milestones" that might be typical for this car. As far as I can tell, it's been maintained reasonably well by the previous owners, and defintely by me. However, at idle, I hear a constant clattering noise that sounds much like an old Mercedes diesel, and there are various "bearing going out" type noises under the hood as well. Under hard acceleration and sometimes under hard cornering, the oil pressure light flashes on even though the level isn't low.
Do turbos typically have shorter life expectancies than normally aspirated Volvos? I'm thinking that the added stress on the engine and tranny might generate extra wear. I just don't have complete enough service records from the two previous owners to know exactly how well they kept it up.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
