Did some more troubleshooting with my Volvo friend Dave today. As it turns out, my timing belt replacement issue, is not really about the belt. I believe that my hall sensor on the distributor is ruined.
It was hanging loose when i bought the car. I had wrapped some electrical tape around the connector to hold it in place. When removing the timing belt cover, i knocked it a bit. Later i had to remove the tape to get to the rotor...
Well, to make a long story short, i think it's worse off now than before this operation. There is no spark from the coil. I metered everything between the battery and there...all looks good. Fuses ok, etc...
I checked some of the parts places online. Can't find a hall sensor for sale.
Am i looking at replacing the whole distributor? I'm at about 120k on the original distributor. It never had much power, but otherwise ran ok prior to my clumbsy hands.
What are the chances of finding one and how much do they usually run?
Thanks,
Jon Zaremba
