radio wiring problem 200 1981

I was in the process of wiring up a replacement stereo, and thought all was well. I was able to test the unit and it did power up, but then I moved the unit slightly and it lost power. All connections were checked for tightness, and were OK. Using a multimeter, I checked the red (switched power) and was getting 12+ volts with key on. The yellow lead (constant power) was only reading fractions of a volt. I traced back to the fuse panel and #1 fuse is fine. Readings at the fuse panel indicated only fractions of a volt also.

So, what might the problem be here, and where else should I be looking for a solution?

Thanks,
Jeff
