1990 240 DL Wagon 200 1990

Assistance please. Just completed replacement of rear shocks and coil springs, front strut inserts, strut mount bearings, front rotors and pads, repacked front bearings, replaced kick down cable to transmission, new trans fluid and filter, gas filter and changed the oil, why not? During the front strut work, brake lines disconnected. Filled brake fluid, bled as described in manual, still soft and brake warning light on in dash, brakes spoongy when engine running, a bit more resistance when engine off, still not a lot or pedal resistance. Suggestions?
