Hello,
Well them temps are hitting the 80's and the 90's are not far behind. Inga (OK here goes the recently posted about description) my faithful 86 245DL with a converted to R134 Freon AC System but other wise stock has a clogged expansion valve per my pro who was going to charge her up for the coming summer. She pulled a good vacuum and took the first can, but during the 2nd can the high side went to no pressure. The compressor will try to come on right after you start her up and then off it goes.
He recommends a new dryer, and that makes since and of course a new expansion valve. Also expressed some concern about the shape of the connectors holding the valve. But he always expresses concern about everything before he does a job. For him to do the job and that means also cleaning the system and replacing all the orings ect would be around $400. Just spent quite a bit on the recent distributor debacle and it will be a month or so before that hits the budget. The wifey mobile also has AC issues and that one will go first to reduce noise at the house.
Question is if one was to get the high side bleed off, how difficult is it to change the expansion valve? Dryer is easy and so are the orings. Or let’s rephrase, they look easy.
Any input or suggestions are, as always greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
PT
