valve train adjustment information 140-160

Hello everyone,

I have struggled with a noisy valve train the entire time I have owned my 145. I have tried adjusting the lash to both ends of the range designated in the service manuals with little or no difference. I currently use the "9's" method of adjustment. Upon searching for more information I ran across this at the Crane website: Go to http://www.cranecams.com/?show=techarticle&id=2 then scroll down to "Adjusting Hydraulic Lifters for Proper Preload" They aren't using a feeler gauge, just the tension on the pushrod.

It seems the danger with this method would be getting them too tight and burning valvs as a result.

I would love to here the "experts" chime in on this as I am curious to try it but not until I gather more info.

Thanks,
Wayne
