960 bad idle 900 1996

Having changed the intake gasket on my 960 3ltr engine I had a engine idle that alternated between 1000 & 2000 revs and I posted this problem recently, requesting advise.
Since then I have checked/cleaned the throttle body and switch, checked for air leakage (not found any) checked the vacuum hoses (visually?) every thing seems ok. checked/cleaned air idle valve cleaned the AMM sensor and since the last two checks the problem has changed.
Now I have an irratic idle at around 7/800 revs and also I have no vacuum assistance on the brakes.
I have since checked?cleaned the plugs which are OK but were sooted up and I also removed the brake vacuum hose at the diaphram where the check valve is.
The valve is working ok found by blowing either side of the valve, but the faults explained above are still there.
I noticed a build up of air when I removed the brake vacuum hose caused by pumping the brake pedal
What is the vacuum system on a 960 as I cannot get this info from anywhere? and could it have a bearing on the bad idle?
Thanks for ary input on above
Paul
