Intermittent Erratic Speedometer on 1992 940GL 900 1992

I did some looking around on the website FAQs but find no mention of any twitchy erratic speedometer behavior. No correlation that I can see, it is intermittent and generally goes away and the instrument will behave normally.

Has anyone seen or heard about this? Any tips on where to look as in the sending mechanism, etc?

It's been a while since I was on the board, it has helped and I have really appreciated it. I urge everyone who gets valid, helpful information to send a few bucks to the system operator.
