Hi everyone.
I am seeking to build a B20 engine for street use. I have zero budget, but a whole shed load of bits and peices that I have acquired over the years.
For various reasons, I have decided to stick with the D cam. Although I have what appears to be a Crane performance cam, I bought it from someone who used to rally Amazons and I think it will have all the power stuffed up the top end of the rev range.
Anyway, firstly I need help in choosing the best cylinder head for the job.
The engine is a B20E from a P1800 ES, so I would have a fairly good bet with the standard E head. I will be running twin SU HS6s.
However, I also have another head (from a B20 F I think) that has had a lot of expensive looking work carried out on it. It has been fairly radically ported & polished, the valves have been machined and look much skinnier than the E heads, etc.
It has also been skimmed down to 83.1 mm.
The chamber depth is 8.92 mm.
The chamber width (across both valve seats) is 92.14mm
The chamber width (between the two valve seats) is 64.39 mm
My question is, will this head raise the compression ratio of the engine too high for running on available fuels?
If so, would fitting a thicker gasket be a solution?
I'd really like to use this head because of obvious performance advantages.
Can anyone please help inform me to make the right decision.
