Well, I'm striking out here on finding a shop that will change my caster. One said Volvo's need "special tools". Tried explaining there isn't a lot to it but he said Volvo's need different tools.
So on to option two and the guy said it would get into hundreds of dollars to change caster by shimming the crossmember. I get the feeling these guys just don't want to work on something that "might" be different.
I really miss Portland.
Looking at the manual it looks pretty simple to change the caster but I don't really have a way to measure nor do I have good impact wrenches and a multitude of jacks.
So has anyone done this? I seem to remember a warning not to change the caster by shimming the "dogbone" that supports the upper A arm. But they do say in the Volvo green book this can be done up to 1mm which would change my caster by 1 degree. Seems like a start.
Any experiences to share?
Thanks,
Mario E.
