AC S90-V90

I have a leak at the low presure valve stem where Feon(r-134) enters. Just how do I replace this valve? Will the stem screw out to replace or does the whole valve screw away from the tube? Do I need a spcial tool, if not what's a good tool to grip valve? How many cans of R-134 do I need to replenish AC system? I'm sure I can handle this job, but want to make sure I'm aware of any problems. One slip up and it's to the shop $$$$$
