First time query after thorough review of archives: I have a 1981 240 wagon with 263K miles. After a series of no starts, I replaced the wiring harness which was visibly rotten. The replacement went without much trouble. Now, as soon as I turn the key to start it, fuse #7 blows. I never had a shorting/fuse blowing problem before replacing the harness. When I jump fuse #7 to fuse #5, I hear the pump working. When I remove the fuel pump relay, the fuse does not blow. I've tried two new fuel pump relays too. It has a new 25 amp fuse and 25 amp fuse harness. It also has a new distributor cap, spark plugs/wires and rotor. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this problem? I do not know much about electronics. I am guessing it is a short or a lack of somewhere but I don't know where to begin. Otherwise, the car is fantastic and was babied by me and the previous original owner. Thanks in advance for any advice.
