CHECK ENGINE light on the way home 2-3-2 code 200 1989

The car had a subtle but noticeable surge as i decelerated to a stop , then there it was a Check Engine light.
Teh code is a 2-3-2 Computer compensating for Lean or Rich condition. I chech the Fuel Pump Regulator and there was gas in teh rear hose. I ordered a new one.
Anyway, looking at the Bentley book The Table shows that a 2-3-2 code should NOT bring up a Check Engine light, yet it did. Any thoughts?

Hopefully the FPR cahneg will be all. I just tuned it 4 weeks ago.
