My wife was heading out today in her car to go strawberry picking. She called me after she stopped to pick up a friend and said the car is making a putting noise and wont get above 2k rpms.
This is a 93 940 w/ regina ignition. I first thought AMM, but then realized that I've got the MAF sensor in this car.
When I hold the pedal at about 3/4 the rpms will climb a little above 2k and then she will sputter and fall back down to 1500. There is also a bad stench when I do this... maybe the smell of overly lean or rich???
I've recently replaced the crank position sensor and the fuel press regulator. 10k ago. This car has been absolutely trouble free for 100k we've owned it.
ANy usual suspects???... huge vacuum leak, poor fuel delivery, clogged fuel filter, clogged cat, bad MAF sensor? I'm handy with my cars but I've been lucky to never have a problem like this so I don't know where to start.
Thanks,
Matt
