Well it always something. So seeking your wisdom BB'ers.

Filled Inga my Faithful 1986 245DL 213K on the way to gym last night. Drove home with and she was running nice and smooth.

This AM on the way to get the caffine fix pulled out of the drive and she suddenly died. Next red light she died again and this time harder. Pulled up for the cup of Java and this time died as the gas petal was released. She would start right up if you gave her a little gas and hold the brake. But this was not good was going back home to hijack the wife moblie when suddenly she would idle (3 to 4 miles). Decided to ahead and go to work thinking bad gas maybe.

This afternoon same issue no idle unless you give her gas just a little an hold her with the brake. When she warmed would idle just like the AM. She ran 2800 RPM (yes that is well over 70 mph) with no issues, but close to the house there were a couple of mild surges of power at speed. Not normal for Inga at all.

Here is the check list:

Idle Control Motor, has been recently lubed with a light oil. And after warming up she is smooth as ever. So maybe, could make a trip to the PUP in the AM and find out in a hurry. Know where one is. The surge in power on the PM Drive puts doubt on that one.

Fuel Pumps, the pick up pump is new, and applied the Red Neck Relay (Light Swith in a plastic housing)and flipped the swich and the pumps seem to be running normal.

Cat Convertor, barely passed Nox last month and getting a lot more noise from the exhaust. Took her to muffler shop by the house and they kept thumping the cat and telling me that it was breaking up and coming apart. But have to wonder exactly how valid that test was. Getting a puff of white smoke on restart after she dies.

FPR, replaced three years ago and no studdering like the last time it failed.

Engine Harness is a Volvo replacement so cross that off.

Ignition, Distributor is a Donor with new point and wires, (yes they are Bosch)

So what to check and how to do it!
