Does it matter where the Expansion Valve Capillary tube (pigtail) mounts on the evaporator outlet? I have 2 1990 240s and both have had the evaporator and/or expansion valve serviced in the past. One has the pigtail clipped immediately below the evaporator, but the distance seems to be putting a strain on the capillary tube. The other 240 has the pigtail clipped to the other vertical side of the "U" shaped outlet tube near the hose connection elbow. The Volvo R134 conversion literature shows it placed horizontally along the bottom of the "U". However, it is not a very clear diagram and the pigtail is not shown with any mounting clip or other hardware.
Where was the factory mounting point of the AC thermostatic switch capillary tube? On one of my 240s it is hose clamped directly below the evaporator outlet, and the other one has the tube placed inside the pigtail of the expansion valve capillary. The 1st one short cycled a lot, so I moved it further down the tube, and it made an improvement. The other is slow to respond, so I should probably move it back toward the evaporator. I was just curious as to where the factory originally installed the tubes.
Thanks,
Preston
