Hi guys,
I'm in the process of installing a new Alpine CD player in a well maintained 242. I've been told that when replacing the driver's (left) side speaker wire that it should be routed from the head --- across the firewall ---- and then under the fuse-block ---- before threading it into the door through the stock opening. I am also told that this procedure involves unscrewing and backing the fuse-block off its mounting location ---- enough to run the new speaker wire underneath it. The fuse block is then returned to its original spot.
I'm fine with this procedure, but wanted to check to see if anyone whose actually replaced their driver's side speaker wire in an early 240, had any cautions or suggestions concerning how best to handle the fuse-block and all that wiring coming into it --- when I'm doing the work. (I promise to disconnect the battery wire before hand.)
If there's a better alternative method for routing the right-side speaker wire --- that you've actually had some success with --- please let me know.
Thanks.
Regards, Dave
