failed inspection 200 1990

passed with flying colors for everything but emissions.

readings:

NOx (standard)1273 (reading)1662
HC (standard)167 (reading)115
CO (standard).94 (reading).80

a little high on the NOx.

gonna set back cam timing (enem v15 cam) to 2 degrees advanced from 6 advanced.

because i have a parts stash, was gonna throw on a new cat. converter & oxygen sensor.

i tested the sensor with a d.v.m the other day. falls within specs listed by Bently.

the cat. converter, about 4 years old, is a cheapy from FCP.

i think setting back cam timing will do the trick by itself.

the only thing is that my adjustable gear is not fully adjustable -it's redrilled. so, i am only going in & pulling stuff apart once.

will probably do the timing belt (1 year old) for kicks as well.

what do you think? replace parts? just do cam timing? or, both?

too, i can always add (thanks jorell :-) some alcohol to the tank.

just want to make sure i definitely pass when i go back.
