About 3 weeks ago I noticed my brake pedal seemed a bit squishy when i first started driving, but once i got half way around the block it was fine, so I thought i was making things up. then one day the brake failure light came & stayed on while driving about town and the brakes were pretty soft so i knew I wasn't nuts.
the fluid in the resivour seemed low, so we added some and that seemed to fix the problem. The next day we put on the FCP brake kit, new rotors, hoses and pads. Of course the front brake lines broke, the old calipers didn't fit on the vented rotors and the bleeder screws were broken off the back. We replaced the back calipers with ones off Rover but one had froze, so we got a new pair. The bleeder screw was bent on one and it didn't hold pressure, ordered a new one.
with all new calipers and lines the brakes still didn't bleed well and there's hardly any pressure in the pedal. We figured the master was bad, replaced it but forgot to bleed it out. still hardly any pressure, and about 2 inches from the floor the pressure was gone and the pedal would slam down. We just replaced the new MC and still the same problem, hardly any pedal pressure and the brake fluid just drips out of the rear calipers, no squirts or streams.
The booster seems dry in the bottom and holds tight vacuum. I've been to the parts store every morning for the past 2 weeks and we're ready to light the car on fire.
HELP!!!!
