89 240 Air Mass Meter 200

My car began running really badly a couple of days ago. Wouldn't idle, big stumble at all speeds, had to feather the throttle to make it move at all. Seemed to steady off at about 3,000 rpm but was still weak.

After looking at the FAQs, I disconnected the air mass meter. It immediatly started and idled at about 1,200 rpm. It still stumbles, but not as badly.

This is a bad air mass meter, right?

Just looking for confirmation before replacing an expensive bit.

Thanks

Zimm
