Starts Up and Rev's at 4000 RPM's and wont come down 200 1984

Got the Wagon home, and it was fine.

The Mister trys to drive it (not knowing how to drive a stick very well)

He does something and now at start up, it revs to 4000 PRMS and will not come back down to idle.

Had my dad come and check it out, engine seemed ok from a glance, He tried to jam on gas a few times thinking a fuel injector was stuck or something. Didnt help.


Dad thinks it a fuel injector issue because the engine keeps burning gas for a moment after turning the engine off.

How can i trouble shoot?

Where do it start?

Sorry i couldnt find anything sim. to this in the faq.
