I've been moaning and groaning about all that's wrong with this '68 P220 for many reasons, one of which is the lack of finding a gas cap for it other than a rather spendy locking one.
Well yesterday, I was digging through my parts stash and found a B20 oil fill cap, looked at it, and for fun and giggles, tried it on the gas filler. It fits! Looks odd, especially since it's a vented one, but I can now keep rain out of my gas tank 'till cheap and broke ole me finds the real deal.
I'm still frustrated with the brakes, as I can't get all of the air out of the front lines ('68 is a split system). There is bubble after bubble, and I've run nearly a quart of fluid through the fronts. Calipers are freshly overhauled, and the rubber lines are new. Is it more likely that it's the master cylinder or the booster allowing air into the system? I figure the booster is shot anyway since it is original, so may bypass it and see if that will let be get them bled. Any comments?
