Any help would be appreciated. I just rebuilt a 16 valve B234F engine from the ground up. I got it back in the car after sitting for a year put the key in and it started right up. Made me very happy! idle was rough, some missing that improved as I let it run. I didn't expect perfection right out of the starting gait. Anyway, I checked the timing and the mark on the crankshaft pully is about 20 to 30 degrees counterclockwise from the timing marks on the plastic timing chain cover. I adjusted the distributor the 20 degrees in either direction and it doesn't come close enough to the timing marks to make a setting. The car starts right up so it can't be too far off. took it down the road and drives smooth and steady at 70 mph. My question is, am I off a tooth on the crankshaft gear or is the a base timing setting that you set with a connector unplugged from the computor? Please help.
Thanks
Rich
